The Ilford Sprite 35-II is a fun and affordable way to transition into analogue photography!
There are many good reasons why some people like the unique look and feel of photographs produced with film; there’s also the discipline of only 24 or 36 exposures to work with and the expectation of developing a roll. Then there’s the desire to slow down from the relentless pace and instant gratification of digital technology.
In the 1960s, few cameras were easier or more affordable than the Sprite 35. Forget about shutter speeds, apertures or light meters; just load a roll of film, press the shutter button and pull the film lever. It was an attractive camera for those who wanted to take a few photos without having to fiddle with the right settings.
The Ilford Sprite 35-II continues this legacy and will meet the needs of those experimenting with 35mm film and looking for a simple ‘no frills’ camera. It is a step up from single-use cameras and as it is reusable it creates no additional waste.
The camera features a fixed shutter speed (1/120 sec) with a 31mm, single-element f9 fixed-focus wide-angle lens that's perfect for capturing the best-focused daylight scenes, and it also has a built-in flash with a 15-second recycle period for night shooting.
Users can load their favorite film, whether color negative or black and white, into the Sprite 35-II, allowing them to capture quick snapshots or moody monochrome scenes. The camera features a manual film advance winding lever to move with each exposure and rewind the roll when the film runs out.
It is extremely lightweight and compact, weighing only 122 grams and measuring 119 mm (W) x 67 (H) mm x 44 mm (D). It will be available in Black and Black and Silver versions.
